A little about Anime

What is Anime?
Many of you wonder what Anime is and didn’t realize that we came across it in our daily lives in the cartoons we watch such as Shin Chan and Doeramon. Anime originates from Japan, it is also called Japanese Animation by other countries.  The earliest known Japanese animation is from 1917. Anime gained early popularity in East and Southeast Asia and has garnered more-recent popularity in the Western World. Legend Osamu Tezuka inspired characteristics and genres that remain fundamental elements of anime today.  Robot anime like the Gundam series became instant classics in the 1980s, and is still one of the most common in Japan and worldwide today. Anime gained increased acceptance in those markets in the 1990s and even more at the turn of the 21st century.

The Characters and Concept

Commentators refer to anime as a form of art. The drawing styles of an anime can vary from an artist to another in a studio. Mostly people claim that the most common form of anime drawings has exaggerated physical features such as large eyes, long limbs, different hair colour and etc. But I think it depends on how an artist draws an anime character. For example, Spirited Away or Ghost in a shell. The characters are similar real human scale physical features. No big eyes and weird hair colour. Mostly anime characters have extreme facial expressions .For example, angry characters may exhibit a "vein" or "stress mark" effect, where lines representing bulging veins will appear on their forehead. This adds more comedic sense to an anime.

Process of Japanese Animation

The production process is similar to the normal animation process. Starting with story boarding, then voice casting, and character design. Things got speed up with the help of the animation technology and software that we have nowadays.  The increasing number of talented artists also helps to create more variety in the anime filed.

If you would like to watch some Animes, i would recomend you by Hayao Miyazaki's work such as My neighbor totoro, Spirited Away and Princess Mononoke. Every week, I will write a review on what anime I have watched. I will also share the soon to be released list of anime if I have any information on my hands. I hope that this section will be useful to those who share the same interest as me. Happy viewing ~ ^ _^
