ANGEL BEATS Episode7: 「Alive」
From the previous episode, Naoi has now joined the SSS as a member. His hypnosis ability led to some hilarious moments when he made Hinata feel more worthless than a clothes-pin as payback for making fun of how he cried after getting hugged by Otonashi.
Otonashi’s past was recalled with the help of Naoi’s hypnosis, Otonashi in the past was a person with no goals in life. He has a sister who is hospitalized for some incurable illness. He buys manga magazines for his sickly sister Hatsune every time he visits. He realized that his goals are to only make his sister happy. Otonashi saved up some money from his part-time jobs to take Hatsune out for Christmas, treat her to food, and buy her a present, hatsune pass away in Christmas. Soon he was diligent hard-working student entering medical university. On the way to the university, the train he was taking was involved in an accident. Otonashi woke up from his hypnosis after that.
Otonashi successfully reached out to Kanade again. They captured a humongous fish (master of the river) and the fish nearly swallow all of them. Kanade duplicate herself and sliced the fish into pieces.All the SSS member’s serves a ton of fish stew to all the NPC students. While washing and cleaing up the dishes, suddenly a red eyed Tenshi appears and begins to attack Yui.

ANGEL BEATS Episode6: 「Family Affair」
Otonashi treats Kanade some mapo tofu to make up for stealing her meal ticket last. He reaches out to her after the absolute bullying she was put through last time, and I gather she would’ve tried to savour her favourite dish. Naoi arrived to punish them for eating lunch during break. Kanade revealed that she’d given up on having friends since they all end up disappearing on her, she’s not really aware of how this world works. Kanade’s “handsonic” ability is designed for self-defense, the “guard skill” bit pretty much gave away the latter. Naoi’s offsets his good deeds in the student council by beating up NPC students to prevent him from disappearing. Naoi desires to become god —and send everyone off to heaven using his hypnosis ability. After witnessing the massacre that he and his hypnotized NPCs committed on the SSS members. Yuri nearly falling victim to being sent off under a delusional feeling of accomplishment. Otonashi charge in to stop him. In this episode we get to see Naoi’s past.
He has a twin brother that is talented compared to him, soon he passed away in an accident.Naoi ended up taking over his brother’s life to settle his father and carry on the renowned Naoi family name as famous potters. Naoi seemed to actually take enjoyment working under his strict father’s guidance in hopes he’ll acknowledge him for who he is, which explains why things just fell apart when he suddenly fell ill.When Otonashi hears about this, he grabbed Naoi and told him he understands what he is going through but will be able to accept him, acknowledged his existence and gave him a manly tear-filled hug. Aww..
